about indiakid

In 2003, the Richard Center of HOPE was established in the city of Trichy, one of the biggest cities in the state of Tamil Nadu, with a population of 2.5 million. The Center offers educational and community services to the poor and orphans. Situated in the heart of Trichy, this is a program that brings together local people, volunteers, and the poor to make a long term difference in the community. The 33,000 square-foot multipurpose “Richard Center of HOPE” was inaugurated on January 23, 2006.

At the heart of the Centre of HOPE is the Divya orphanage. The orphanage serves as a home to the children from Trichy and surrounding areas. The orphanage was named in honor of Divya Richard, a beloved grand daughter in the Richard Family, who passed away fighting cancer. Children in India are often deprived of basic necessities like nutritious food, healthcare and education because their parents are either too poor to provide them or the children are orphaned. The Divya orphanage provides a home to such children who are either orphaned or abandoned. These children are given the best care and attention at a wonderfully built facility. The children go to school as well as receive personal attention in their studies at home. A number of children come with traumatic and shattered pasts but end up creating a wonderful future, guided by the staff at the Divya orphanage.

This is where InidaKid comes in. Our goal is to grow this initiative and provide for street kids throughout Tamil Nadu and someday, all of India. We are creating programs to not only help get children off the streets and into a loving environment but to teach them and help them be ready for their future life. This includes their education, nutritional health, and emotional health.

Help us and see how your donation affects these children.
